Day 1, 18 Dec 2008: Perth to Kalgoorlie

This year, we decided to drive across the Nullarbor Plain from Perth to Melbourne to see Nick and Devon for Christmas.

I hope you'll enjoy some of the photo highlights on the trip with us.

Rest break about 130km east of Perth, at the town of Meckering.  We stopped to view the Meckering earthquake display.

Wheatbelt  silos dot the landscape.Willy willy just north of the town of Southern  Cross - our lunch break.

Kalgoorlie, our overnight stop (approximately 600 km from Perth).  We had time to visit the Superpit, one of the largest open cut gold mines in the world.

And finally, the famous Kalgoorlie brothels.
